Policies

Payment is due by the end of the first week of classes unless a payment plan has been agreed upon and signed in advance. All completed financial assistance will be considered when figuring student accounts. The assistance may come from PELL, TEG, veteran's benefits, a student loan, Jacksonville College scholarship, external scholarship, or any combination of the aforementioned.

Applications for financial aid must be completed by August 1 for Fall and by January 5 for Spring to ensure it is available for consideration.

Payment Plans
  • Fall and Spring semesters

    • 25% of the balance is due by the end of the first week of classes.

    • The remaining balance will be set up in 3 equal payments at 30-day intervals

    • Balances for the Spring semester are required to be paid in full no later than April 15

    • Balances for the Fall semester are required to be paid in full no later than November 15

  • A $10.00 late fee will charged each month a payment is late.

  • The Business Office may require an automatic debit authorization form for a credit card or checking account on any student/family that has failed to make scheduled payments from a previous semester.

Failure to meet payment obligations will result in dismissal from school, and no transcripts or degree will be issued until the account has been cleared.

Failure to make payments by the indicated due date may result in the administrative suspension of the student from Moodle and Empower and/or all classes at Jacksonville College. The student will have 5 business days to satisfy the payment obligation once notice of administrative suspension has been issued. If sufficient payment is not made within the 5-day period, the student will be subject to administrative withdrawal from Jacksonville College.

Student accounts are considered delinquent 60 days after the official close of the semester attended or the college withdrawal date. Failure to respond to notice of debt will result in deliverance of the account to a credit bureau, and the account will be subject to collection efforts. The administration reserves the right to make decisions on an individual case basis.

IMPORTANT: Withdrawal from college does NOT excuse the student from payment. Refund terms and time limits are outlined in Jacksonville College's Course Catalog.

Jacksonville College reserves the right to change the tuition, fees, and room and board charges at any time, according to action by the Board of Trustees.

Refunds

A student withdrawing from a class during the fall or spring semester may receive a refund of tuition according to the following schedule (no refund of fees will be given):

  1. Through the last day to add/drop:             100 %

  2. After the last day to add/drop:                    none

A student withdrawing from the college during a fall or spring semester may receive a refund of tuition according to the following schedule (no refund or fees will be give):

  1.  During the first 5 class days of the semester:     80%

  2. During the 6th through the 15th class days:        65%

  3. During the 16th and 20th class days:                    40%

  4.  After the 20th class day:                                         None

(Note: "class days" refers to all scheduled classes, not just the specific class or classes the student may be taking.)

If the student is receiving Title IV federal aid, a potential refund to the federal government must be calculated according to federal guidelines.  Any unearned portion of the federal funds must be returned to the government.  The student is held responsible to pay any outstanding balance on his/her account.  This federal refund policy overrides the Jacksonville College institutional refund policy.  No refund of fees will be given.

In no case will tuition or fee monies be refunded to a student who has been withdrawn from a class or from the college by process of college authorities for reasons of discipline, absenteeism or failure to meet financial obligations.

The room reservation fee will be refunded to students who do not come and live in the residence hall only if a request is made to the Business Office prior to the following dates:

June 1...........................................for reservation fee for upcoming fall semester

January 1.....................................for reservation fee for upcoming spring semester

The policy for any student withdrawing from the college or who is authorized to move out of a residence hall during the semester is as follows: Refunds on prepaid board charges will be made only in cases of illness or approved hardship circumstances. Approved refunds will be given on a prorated basis according to the number of days of board used by the student. No refunds on room charges will be given. This policy may be modified on behalf of the student in the event of special circumstances.
