ANSWERING GOD’S CALL
Isaiah 6:8 says, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I; send me.”
I believe in a “call” of God upon a person’s life. There is that general call of salvation and the specific call for service such as the call to pastor or to be a missionary. I pray God will continue to call out the “called” for special service. I also believe a call carries a responsibility to prepare for service and that part of that preparation should include enrolling in Jacksonville College and earning an Associate Degree.
For example, Ricky Berry had a family, a good job, and great future. When God called him into the ministry, he packed up his family, left his job, and moved to Jacksonville to enroll in Jacksonville College as a full-time student. He serves as youth minister at Afton Grove Baptist Church and works at another job to provide for his family and pay for his education.
Possibly, God is calling you or someone you know. Come to Jacksonville College. No other two year college in Texas can prepare you for that calling the way Jacksonville College can. JC offers fully accredited basic courses, taught with a Christian, biblical worldview, that will transfer to any four year college.
When you see the call of God upon someone’s life, tell that person about Jacksonville College, where we are dedicated to challenging minds and transforming lives.
As of December 2014, the Joe Wright Elementary School campus officially belongs to Jacksonville College because of Hobby Lobby’s generous donation of the property. The campus is located directly across from the JC main campus. We are relying on God to bless us through the donations of His people so we can use the new facility for multiple purposes.
The Voices of Mobile, a vocal ensemble from the University of Mobile, Alabama (Baptist) blessed Chapel attendees on March 4 with an inspiring performance of wide variety of Christian songs. The ensemble was directed by Dr. Roger Breland, founder of the award winning Gospel group, Truth.
Jacksonville College hosted this year’s NJCAA Region XIV Championship Tournament for men’s and women’s basketball March 3-7. The tournament was held in the Jacksonville Independent School District Gymnasium on the previous Lon Morris Campus, and was sponsored by the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and the City of Jacksonville.
