JACKSONVILLE COLLEGE RECOGNIZED FOR BEING SECOND LEAST EXPENSIVE IN THE U.S.
On June 30, the U.S. Department of Education updated college costs lists on its College Affordability and Transparency Center. The newly published information ranks Jacksonville College as the most affordable private nonprofit 2-year college in Texas, and the second most affordable in the nation. Based on the published information, Jacksonville College is the least expensive private nonprofit Christian 2-year college in the nation. The national average net price is $18,254. Jacksonville College ranked significantly below average with $4,304.
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) uses data collected through IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) to generate the affordability lists. Data is collected from all institutions that participate in or are applicants for participation in any federal student financial aid program. Net price data for the most recent lists were collected in Winter 2012-13.
“At Jacksonville College, we make every effort to make higher education affordable to our students,” said Dr. Mike Smith, President of Jacksonville College. “I am very pleased—though not surprised—that we ranked so highly nationally in the latest listing by the Department of Education.”
