At Jacksonville College, students, faculty and staff have a wealth of technological resources to assist the learning process. Below are some technology highlights that underscore the College's commitment to providing the best possible tools for student advancement.
- A computer lab equipped with twenty Pentium IV workstations, network laser printers, and a high resolution flatbed scanner is available to all students, faculty, and staff. The data projector and interactive whiteboard in the lab add a new dimension to the learning experience
- Music students benefit from Pentium IV workstations with MIDI interfaces and specialized software for ear training and music composition in the Gerald Orr Music Annex
- Pentium IV workstations are available for student use in the Norman Library
- Mobile Pentium IV notebook computers are available in the Norman Library for student use. These notebooks are connected to the campus network and Internet by a wireless network.
- Students living on campus have access to Pentium IV workstations and laser printers located in the dormitories. These workstations are connected to the campus network.
- The chemistry laboratory is equipped with Mobile Pentium IV notebook computers with Vernier LabPro data collection devices for conducting computer based experiments.
Results of experiments are printed using a network color laser printer located in the lab.
- The Math Department uses a "CopyCam" system that can print all information written on the whiteboard. This excellent tool can print information, save to a disk, save to a web site, making available to students all information provided in class.
- A Computers On Wheels (COW) is available to the faculty for computerized presentations and demonstrations. Classrooms are equipped with high-speed network connections.
- Wireless network “Hotspots” are located at various locations on campus for students to connect to the Internet with laptop computers.
- A Videoconference/Distance learning Room is located in the Weatherby building. Ease of use and performance were primary considerations in the design of the room.
- The Community Technology and Learning Center, located in the Weatherby building provides the community with access to information technology and training.
- Tutorial software is available to students for the subjects of mathematics, biology, anatomy & physiology, and Spanish.
- All full time faculty members have a workstation in their office connected to the campus network with e-mail and Internet access.
- Technology is used in many courses to enhance the curriculum
