Jacksonville College Scholarships

Institutional scholarships are awarded through the college Scholarship Committee to those who qualify. A number of different scholarships are available in various categories including academic, athletic, commuter, departmental, journalism, ministerial/church, music, and work/performance.

Students receiving institutional scholarships (except ministerial part-time scholarships) must enroll for at least twelve semester hours of associate-degree core courses each fall and spring semester until core courses are completed, and must maintain enrollment in at least twelve semester hours during the entire semester in order to keep the scholarship for the current semester. Required developmental courses and STSU 1100 will be considered as "core courses" for enrollment purposes.

Scholarship monies cannot be used to pay for advanced credit, applied music, or audit courses. In general, a scholarship covers only tuition costs for a minimum of twelve semester hours and a maximum of sixteen semester hours. All students receiving scholarships must attend scheduled chapel programs unless excused for a valid reason by the Dean of Students. An individual student cannot receive benefit concurrently from more than one scholarship given by Jacksonville College. All scholarship recipients must also apply for governmental financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.) When applicable, the Texas Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG) may be considered a part of the institutional scholarship since TEG and a tuition scholarship cannot exceed a student's total tuition expense. Scholarships will be awarded according to qualifications and on a first-come, first-served basis as long as monies are available.

Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis for one academic year (fall and spring semesters). Once awarded for that academic year, the type of scholarship cannot be changed without the approval of the Scholarship Committee. Maintaining a scholarship is dependent upon meeting specified academic, performance and class attendance requirements. Scholarships may also be reduced or revoked if recommended by the college Judicial Committee or directed by the administration for due cause. Contact the Financial Aid Office or Admissions Office for further details.
