Jacksonville College Award Packages

Financial Aid
Jacksonville College offers two basic types of aid to assist students in meeting the financial demands of attending college. Institutional Award Packages are provided by the college to pay for a portion of the educational expenses of the student.  Governmental financial aid includes federal/state grants and work-study.  In general, institutional award packages and governmental aid are available only to United States citizens.  Additional information on financial assistance can be found in the Jacksonville College Financial Aid Policies and Procedures Manual located in the Library, Financial Aid Office and Admissions Office.  The student should also contact the Financial Aid or Admissions Office for information and help.

Institutional Award Packages

Institutional award packages are granted through the college Financial Aid Committee to those who qualify. A number of different award packages are available in various categories, including academic, commuter, ministerial/BMA/SBTC, out-of-state, personnel, and performance.  Students receiving institutional award packages (except certain part-time awards) must enroll for at least twelve semester hours of associate-degree core courses each fall and spring semester until core courses are completed, and must maintain enrollment in at least twelve semester hours during the entire semester in order to keep the award for the current semester.

**Important Information**
Required developmental courses and STSU 1100 will be considered as “core courses” for enrollment purposes.  No more than nine semester hours of developmental classes per semester can be covered by award packages.  These monies cannot be used to pay for advanced credit, applied music, or audit courses.  In general, award packages cover only tuition costs for a maximum of sixteen semester hours.  An individual student cannot receive benefit concurrently from more than one award package given by Jacksonville College.  All financial award recipients must also apply for governmental financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  For qualifying students, the Texas Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG) will be considered a part of the institutional award package.  Award packages will be distributed according to qualifications and on a first-come, first-served basis as long as monies are available.  Award packages are distributed annually for one academic year (fall and spring semesters).  Once approved, the type cannot be changed without the approval of the Financial Aid Committee.  Maintenance of awards is dependent upon meeting specified academic, performance, and class attendance requirements.  Award packages may also be reduced or revoked if so recommended by the college Judicial Committee or so directed by the administration for due cause.  Contact the Financial Aid Office or Admissions Office for further details.

Academic, Valedictory, and Salutatory awards are offered at the following percentages for academically strong students who meet the academic standards listed below and who enter Jacksonville College immediately after high school. SAT scores are based on the sum of critical reading and math sections. The student must place out of all developmental coursework.
