Academic advising is provided by a faculty advisor assigned to each student enrolled at Jacksonville College, as well as by the Academic Dean, the Dean of Students, and the Admissions Office. The faculty advisor is a full-time faculty member in an academic field appropriate to the student’s major or interest. These advisors will assist the student during registration for classes and throughout the semester.
During advising, the student and the advisor should be aware of other
information and policies as published in the current Jacksonville College Bulletin.
Personal/career advising is available to all students through the office of the Dean of Students. Career advising is designed to assist students in the preparation for a productive career in a particulat field of study. A unit on choosing a career and major is also taught in the Freshman orientation class, Student Success 1100.
Personal/spiritual advising is available to all students through the office of the Dean of Students. Many college personnel among various administrators, faculty, and staff are also able to assist students in the area of spiritual concerns.
Professional counseling services are available to, and may be required for students identified as having drug and/or alcohol dependency problems. Information about substance abuse and treatment services will be made available to all students through Student Success 1100, the housing staff, literature distributed on campus, campus programs, and through the office of the Dean of Students.
