UT Tyler Reps Visit Jacksonville College
(March 21, 2005) The BMAWeb—Representatives of the technology department from the University of Texas at Tyler visited Jacksonville College March 4, 2005. Kyle Stewart, Manager of Education Technology, and Melissa Hill, Education Technology Specialist toured the College's distance learning center and video technology center, the Norman Library, biology and chemistry labs, the math room, copy duplication center, two computer labs, the smart board, the computers on wheels; and examined the wireless access technology of Jacksonville College.
They enjoyed the day and were impressed with the modern high-tech facilities of the school. The tour was conducted by Billy Wilbanks, chair of the science department, with other JBC faculty members presenting short demonstrations of the technology they were using.
The University of Texas at Tyler is sending a nursing course over the video conference network of both schools so nursing students can take the Pathophysiology course at Jacksonville College without having to drive to Tyler. This has proved to be a convenience, time saver, and money saver to the students. The course will be offered again in the fall semester of 2005.
