Jacksonville Spiritual Emphasis Week
Jacksonville College will celebrate Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) April 4-7 with a variety of activities. The main theme for the week is “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.” Guest speakers for the Chapel programs Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel will include Reverend Bertram Cooper and Shannon Hahn. Monday through Thursday, at 4:45 p.m. in the college cafeteria, students will lead a brief devotional based on some aspect of the week’s theme. Refreshments will be theme-related as well. (See details on the schedule below.) At 7:30 each evening, a time of praise and worship will be held in the Chapel. All activities during the week are free and open to the public.
Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Buckner Chapel:
- Singers will perform “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” to “kick off” Spiritual Emphasis Week
- Revered Bertram Cooper will speak. Bro. Bert is Director of Development of at the Baptist Missionary of America Theological Seminary (BMATS) of Jacksonville. He was blessed by being awarded a college football scholarship, and in 1975 he received his B.S. in Communications from Florida State University. He was drafted by the New York Jets in 1975, and also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He received a Master of Arts in Religion degree from the Baptist Missionary of America Theological Seminary (BMATS) in 2004, where he currently serves as Director of Development. Bertram is pastor of Believer’s Fellowship Baptist Church (BMA) in Lone Oak, Texas, where he also serves as President of the Ministerial Alliance. He is on the Board of the BMA State Mission Board, and he serves on the Board of Directors of H.O.P.E. in Jacksonville, Texas. He has a wife, Mary, and one daughter, Taylor.
Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Buckner Chapel:
- Shannon Hahn, a dynamic Education Minister, will share how she has dedicated her life to serving God.
- Cross Act Company (drama students) to perform biblical skits and music.
Monday-Thursday at 4:45 p.m. in the college cafeteria:
- Brief devotionals will be led by Jacksonville College ministerial students. Theme related refreshments will be served in the Student Union Building (SUB) after the nightly services.

- Tuesday Tad Traylor Growth in the Lord Salad
- Wednesday Ryan Gullet Walking with Jesus (holiness) Main meal
- Thursday Michael Johnson Rewards along the way Dessert
Monday-Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Buckner Chapel:
- The guest speaker each night will be Michael Powell. Michael is the husband of his high school sweetheart, Mandy. They have two boys, Miles and Miller. Michael pastors a church in Nacogdoches, TX. His congregation is mostly college students from Stephen F. Austin State University. He has organized and participated in mission work in Poland, Belarus, Moldova, Mexico, Venezuela, Haiti, Peru, and Philippines.
- Nightly worship will be led by Terry McCoy and a praise band. Terry is a Jacksonville College alumnus from Shreveport, LA.
- After the Revival Services in the Chapel, refreshments will be served in the SUB.
Additional activities throughout the week:

- Cross Act Company (drama students) to perform also on Thursday night
- Mission Band will perform skits (TBA—to be announced)
